Since being formed by Joseph Davids in 1998 , LATIN8 Productions Ltd has built up an enviable reputation as one of the most successful promoters in the UK Latin scene. This is based on extensive knowledge of the scene, commitment to quality, a genuine enthusiasm and dedication to making the UK Scene into one of the very best in the World. Our portfolio (in the Salsa scene alone) includes some of the biggest events that the UK has ever seen:
* Concerts
Since 1999, LATIN8 has worked on some of the biggest live Latin concerts in the UK (Los Van Van and Club Tropicana with Sir Harvey Goldsmith in 1999), DLG in 2000, Gilberto Santa Rosa in 2001 and Johnny Polanco in 2002)
* Dance Events
Our dance events have also included some of the very biggest such as Salsa Nation 99 (Equinox – London), The Salsa Showdown 2001 (featuring Descarga Latina, Santa Rico & Alma Y Sabor), The Bacardi London Salsa Congress & Bacardi UK Salsa Championships (2000) and of course our very own Tottenham Carnival & The Annual Latin Rave Stand at the Notting Hill Carnival.
* Teachers and Performers
We hosted the UK debuts of: Francisco Vazquez & Monica Gonzalez (LA), Johnny Vazquez (LA), Henry Knowles (NY), Jayson Molina & Brenda Byrd (NY), Tropical Gem (Italy)
* TV & Radio Work
In addition to a number of documentaries and features articles the team worked on The Esther Rantzen Show (BBC2 1999), Interviewed by GMTV, Sky News & Puerto Rican TV about organizing Bacardi World Salsa Congress-London. (2000) and Joseph Davids (director) is a regular pundit on London Live Radio
In 2004, Latin8 working together with other parties formed THE LATIN COLLECTIVE. However, the driving force has always been our Director, Joseph Davids.
First, and foremost, THE LATIN COLLECTIVE is the the single biggest Latin Dance promotion company in the UK and Europe. Amongst other things, the collective runs the UKs biggest latin clubnights Metrolatina @ Bar Salsa, LatinaMAX@The Rocket and The World Famous scalalatina@SCALA as well as some of the UK’s biggest latin festivals and we have worked with organisations including Sony and Save the Children.
The UK Dance scene is one of the best in the World and latin dance is no exception. Our mission has always been to develop the UK latin club dance scene (“not LATIN & BALLROOM”) through unity and cooperation with others. Our passion has always been the dance.
Over the years we have worked on joint projects with others through the UK and the rest of the World. Our “host” team is made up some of the UKs top latin promoters including SalsaCaribe, AfroJazz and Lambazouk-Fusion. THE COLLECTIVE is really made up of them all.
