Overview

We are a dance school based in Hall Green, Birmingham.

Established in 2000, we teach Latin, Ballroom, Modern and Old Time Sequence and Argentine Tango at all levels from absolute beginners to the more accomplished dancer. We hold regular social dances so you can put into practice what you've learned in the class.

Brian Holtom

Brian is a qualified teacher in Latin, Ballroom and Disco Dance with the International Dance Teachers Association and was awarded life membership of the Association in 2004. Many thousands of people have been taught by Brian, the majority obtaining medals and many going on to obtain professional qualifications under his expert guidance. Prior to the formation of New Era Dance Co in 2000, Brian was co-owner of the well remembered 'Galleon Dance Centre' in Hall Green, Birmingham.

Brian teaches through the love of dance and for the very great satisfaction of seeing people who initially swear they have 'two left feet' develop into relaxed and competent social dancers who can attend any social dance or function with confidence and enjoyment.

Group classes are a great way of learning to dance. Beginners will learn the Waltz and Quickstep in the Ballroom syllabus, progressing to Slow Foxtrot and Tango as you improve. The Latin branch teaches Rumba and Cha Cha Cha at Beginners level, progressing to Jive, Paso Doble and Samba. More advanced figures are added for the more advanced dancer.

Private lessons are available for those wishing to progress at a faster pace than the group class or as a supplement to the group class.

Medal tests are available and give a real sense of achievement and purpose to your dancing. These are completely optional but many of our dancers take the medal tests as they have 'something to show' for their effort.

Practice/social dances are held at the end of our group classes, giving you a chance to practice what you've just learnt.

Monthly Saturday dances are held on the 2nd saturday of the month (except July and August) and are a great way to socialise with your new found friends from the group class and to enjoy yourself in a friendly, relaxed environment (and maybe do a bit of dancing too!)
