Overview

Welcome to the Abbots Leigh Village website. Here you will find out what is going on in the village as well as information on its history, people and places of interest.

Abbots Leigh is regarded by many as one of the most sought after villages on the outskirts of Bristol with its own church, public house and village hall. Clifton Village is about two miles away across Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s world famous Suspension Bridge and the city centre only three and a half miles. Junction 19 of the M5 gives access to the UK motorway network in less than three miles and Bristol International Airport is about nine miles. A variety of beautiful walks including Abbots Pool and the Avon Gorge (a designated area of outstanding natural beauty) are on offer quite literally from the doorstep.

There is some car parking space in the road outside the building, but it is limited.  If you live in the village, and close enough, it may be advisable to come on foot if you can.  Or possibly park in one of the nearby roads, and walk from there, if there are no spaces outside.  The area does not tend to be too busy though on a Monday morning.

On the A369 coming from the M5, the Hall is on the left hand side of the road.  On the A369 coming from Clifton/Ashton/Bristol, the Hall is on the right hand side of the road.  It is on the brow of a hill, and The George Pub is directly opposite the turning into Church Road (and the Hall).  It is well sign posted for "Village Hall".  As you turn into Church Road, the Hall is immediately on the right (and visible from the A369).

Our Village Hall is in Church Road opposite the George Public House, right in the centre of the village. Mrs Yda Richardson who at that time resided in the Manor House gave the Hall to the Parish in the 1920s.  The Hall is owned and run by the Parish Council which employs the caretaker.

The Hall is an ideal venue for community events, family functions, children’s parties, fund-raising events, workshops, toddler groups, private and public meetings.

It has a stage with lighting and sound system, a well equipped catering kitchen and a hall that can take between 60 and 80 people depending on the use. There is also a smaller committee room that can be hired separately.
