Overview

London’s Longest Established Tango Studio.

We offer the best introduction to Argentine Tango in London, with a variety of classes to suit your needs, whether you are a complete beginner or seeking to improve your dancing.

“Las Estrellas” was one of London’s first dance studios devoted strictly to teaching the authentic Tango Argentino, a beautiful and sensual dance. Since its opening in 1993, many students of all nationalities have successfully completed their dance courses and now enjoy dancing with their partners in Tango milongas around the world.

The atmosphere of the studio is friendly and the student enrolment per class limited which means the personal attention received by the students is complete and incomparable.

The Instructor is Takis, an internationally known teacher of Argentine Tango who, in the last 20 years has taught over 40,000 students at ‘Las Estrellas’. Takis is also the organiser of the ‘London International Tango Festival’ and Managing Director of the Academia Nacional del Tango (UK).

Many well known artists such as Osvaldo Zotto and Lorena Ermosida, Nito & Elba, Gloria & Eduardo, Gustavo Naveira & Giselle Anne, Hector Villalba, Diego Difalco, Carolina Zokalski, Carlos Gavito, Milena Plebs, Ricardo & Nicole, Suzanna Miller, Puppy, Mora Godoy and many others have performed, given master classes or enjoyed dancing at ‘Las Estrellas’.

The Studio has been filmed five times by: the BBC; Pinewood Studios; German TV; Carlton TV and Argentine Television (Canal 9).

There is a fully licensed bar which serves all kinds of drinks with hot food available as well.

We offer two ways of beginning to learn Argentine Tango: our weekly beginners group class or private classes with Takis. We hold the Beginners Class on Mondays, and for those wishing to improve their technique we have a mixed ‘Advanced Beginners’ and Intermediate Class on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Private Classes take place on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

Please wear comfortable clothing you can dance in, and most importantly: shoes that do not have rubber soles (or you will stick to the dance floor), high heels for the women and leather soled shoes for the men. If you are wearing rubber or synthetic soled shoes please remove them and dance without them: the floor is spotlessly clean. We have a good stock of Argentine and European shoes for sale in the Studio, please CLICK HERE to go to our dedicated shoe page and see our extensive range of Werner Kern, Nueva Epoca and Dancelife shoes.
